Just checking through for some info and found your query, Alan JG. When my mum and dad were there in 1984 Kata Tjuta was known as The Olgas. I stand to be corrected if this is not the original name - I guess the Aborigines always called it Kata Tjuta, while the Europeans called it The Olgas.

If you meant, 'formerly (or also) known to me (or my parents) as The Olgas,' then that's fine but expressed in a rather clumsy way. I cannot speak for all of prehistory but other than that your guess is right; and you have answered both our queries.
