Wild Hong Kong
Been traveling to HK now for 30 plus years and finally we've gotten to some of the more remote, off-the-beaten-path spots to enjoy some nature. Believe it or not, there is still some left there! Take a peak at our photo-travelogue and see what I mean! Cheers.

Well, better late than never I always say. There are people who live here who have never been to Mai Po. Hope you get out to some of the other rural areas of Hong Kong on future visits. You will find there are many. It will take you another 30 years of visiting to see them all.
As for the kites, you can see them hunting at sunset on the Peak; most notably at Magazine Gap where they gather by the dozens. Don't have to go all the way to Mai Po for them. I watch them from my house in the evenings.

Cokesmith - I loved your photos!!
I am going there in one month!! How did you get to this more remote area?
We are still up for ideas for our trip... have it mostly planned. We are there for 8 or 9 days- cant remember with the travel days built in!?!
Do you have a suggestion of your favorite "must do" off the beaten path idea!!

Yes - Mai Po needs reservations but it is no big hurdle- they are very good at responding to emails. I think this is definitely a great out of the way spot to visit. IT can get hot though! So bring some sun screen and an umbrella!
