Which overnight and which daytrip btwn. Hakone or Miyajima?
We will be in Japan for 11 nights in March with two 15 yo boys. Planning 5 nights Kyoto and 5 nights Tokyo with one overnight btwn Kyoto and Tokyo at either Miyajima or Hakone. We want to visit both HIroshima and Hakone so would do one as an overnight and the other as a daytrip. Which is easier to do as a daytrip and which more important to do as an overnight - Hiroshima from Kyoto or Hakone from Tokyo?
If do as daytrip will probably just do Hiroshima, if stay overnight would stay in Miyajima. Whichever one we do the overnight at, we definitely want to stay at ryokan with onsen.
Thank you!

Both places I would reco for an overnight but if you can only do one then I would go for Hiroshima/Miyajima overnight hands down especially at that time of year. Some good ryokans on Miyajima with Iwaso being one of them.

and with Momijiso being the more eco friendly choice of the two

I have reviewed Iwaso in trip report. Just click on my screen name and it should all be there. Lots to see and do in both Hiroshima and Miyajima.

You could probably do the "Hakone Round course" circuit on the way back to Tokyo from Kyoto
