Marina Mandarin Hotel.
Airport is not that far from city.
Maybe $15 US cab fare.

here's the hotel's web-site.
http://www.marina-mandarin.com.sg/

you can call them and get a better rate than offered on the net. Singapore has tons of hotels and the competiton is fierce.

Michael

I would go for one of the Westin's (Westin Stamford or Westin Plaza - they're connected), and visit Raffles instead (it's right next door). The Westins are conveniently located, modern, and there's a very nice lounge on the top floor with a wonderful view.

I live in Singapore and am the "resident expert" on hotels and restaurants in Singapore.I can name you the top 5 hotels here:

1. The most expensive hotel is Raffles Hotel (US$400) which is designed in the colonial style. All rooms are suites and have "old style" fittings. The r'rant Raffles Grill is excellent. Also next to CHijmes and Raffles City MRT stn.

2.The newest plush hotel is the Fullerton, housed in a renovated colonial bldg with doric columns. It is beside the Singapore river, has views of the river and the sea. Its rooms are designed in the modern style. All fittings by Philip Stark, it has lovely views and the best chinese r'rant,Jade, and best french r'rant, Les Amis Lighthouse, in Singapore. Price abt $200.Next to Raffles PLace MRT.This is my favourite hotel.

3.Winner of many awards is the Ritz Carlton Millenia.Rooms are 150% larger than usual. Bathrooms have full height windows overlooking the city and are the sexiest bathrooms.Service is the best in SIngapore. The Japanese r'rant is excellent. In Marina Square not near to any MRT.($200)Used to be my favourite but has been overaken by the Fullerton now.

4.Four Seasons is also nice, but pretty much like any Four Seasons in the world. Excellent chinese r'rant and beside the popular shopping area Orchard Rd. ($200)Close to Orchard MRT.

5. Shangri-La is the oldest of the bunch but has been renovated. Set in lush gardens and away from the city, it is an oasis of tranquility. Ask for the Garden Wing if you can. The r'rant Blu has good views of the city. ($200)Not near any MRT stn altho it's 10 mins walk to Orchard Rd.

Cabs are plentiful and cheap (US$15 to city)

Let me know what you're looking for and I'll advise accordingly, even r'rants to be done in a nite.
