What's your wildest BKK experience?

For a change I find myself with a week in Bangkok and no business to do, no travel companions, etc. I'm always in the mood to experience the gritty, honest, spicy, exciting (slightly dangerous?) and absurd while on "walk about" like this.
Please share your extreem experiences with me for some inspiration. Usually I'm pretty good at getting into trouble on my own, but any help would be appreciated.

cheers,
Craig

You should have no trouble finding the gritty, honest, spicy, exciting and VERY dangerous in Bangkok. In fact you will may have more trouble getting away from people who are insistant on providing you with a gritty, honest, spicy, exciting and VERY dangerous time in Bangkok.

You really don't need us to help you on this do you? Try the words "Bangkok" "wild time" in Google and I think you'll get all the inspiration you need.

Walter,
Quite right on the google/dogpile/yahoo search.
Looking for something more personal and with less "hotel/sales/sex/drugs" angle.
Considering the formidable experience of Fodorites, I'm guessing there are some unique stories out there that don't normally make it to print.

Cheers,
Craig

PS -- the first hit on Goo for "wild time" bangkok is "The American School, Bangkok"! Yipee! School!

aaahh, now we've got that misunderstanding cleared up.

Have you thought about:-
Hire a long tail boat (it comes with a driver) for an hour or two and go off exploring the canals (it doesn't come with a commentary). The Shangri La has there own boat captain who will arrange this for you. It costs about £15 an hour. You can hop off at anywhere that takes your fancy and the boat will wait.

Watch the Thai Boxing at either the Ratchadamnoen Stadium or Lumphini stadium.

Get out to what might be one of the world's largest markets at Chatuchak (Weekends only)

For a bit of tongue in cheek fun If you want to see a reputable and world renowned "lady-boy" show, try the Calypso Cabaret at the Asia Hotel - It is supposedly far classier than similar offerings that m,ay be available.

Restaurants:- For Thai food try Cabbages and Condoms - again a totally reputable restaurant of many years standing with profits donated to AIDS research

For a traditional Thai Massage, then arrange for a massage at the Wat Po temple

If u enjoy cycling we loved the Bangkok cycling tour. The name is a bit of a misnomer as u do not cycle within the city at all but in a kind of park. Check the website www.realasia.net - maybe some of the other activities will catch your fancy.

if you really want to find out about bkk's wild side, check out some expat web sites just type in bangkok expats and you'll definatly get stickman who's a legend in bkk.

here are my extreems, (i am living in bkk for a while so I've had a hell of a longer time too get myself in some situations).

gritty.. getting scammed by fellow farangs..

honest.. listening too the lists of misory that the avarage young Thai goes threw... taking care of moms, pops, themselves, and thier drunk uncle, with about $150 a month is not easy.. Im not talking just about bar girls but accountants and teachers)

Spicy... those "special" shows at potpong can be spicy but there is a certain famouse place that tops that but I cant mention it here.

exciting.. the fist visit too bkk.. like many I was hooked.

slightly dangerous.. getting sournouded by 5 ladyboys in a dark allay.. had too throw one against the wall and get out fast.

absurd while on walk about.. stroling up potpong behind a 80 year old lady and seeing them being offerd menues too see "ping pongs".

It seems that I am the same kind of traveler as you I just like too walk around and see the good, bad, and the ugly at its raw..

the above all related too the seemy side since it involves extreeems but bkk has way more too offer then that crap..

A young Australian guy and I(60ty year old lady)were lost returning to our hotel. Stopped in front of the King's place, asked a policeman to help us. The next thing we knew he pointed to his motorcycle for us to hop on. We hopped on and took quite a ride through the streets of Bangkok with me praying and the young guy saying a few choice words. Very scarey when you would look up and see a bus coming directly toward you. We made it right to the hotel door. So for something quite exciting ask a Thai policeman for directions and you might just get the ride. Only if you have been to Bangkok can you possibly understand this.

No harzer but my mother is still dining out on the story! For a truly dangerous experience CRAIGdotWhite you could try to find the taxi driver we had to take us to a restaurant one night. He mumbled to himself all the way and finally drove us into the little quiet soi, drove us slightly past the restaurant and parked in a dark spot. When I tried to get out of the taxi I could not open the door and he got out his door and went around to get something out of the boot. He finally let us out and I saw he had some sort of car jack in his hand and was looking at us strangely.Just at that moment some people came out of the restaurant and he hurriedly put the thing back in the boot, we paid the fare and he scooted off.Was that the sort of thing you were looking for Craig?

We were trying to get to this Baptist church in bkk and had the hotel write everything out in thai, after we got off the bts and tried to find a taxi to take us there, NO ONE knew where it was!!!! Several touts tried and no one had a clue, so we stared walking and this guy that looked like Cheech from Cheech and Chong walked up smoking and wated to know where we needed to go, and said he knew exactly where it was, so we got i nthe tuk tuk(which I swore I would never do) and after going the wrong way against traffic for awhile down Sukimvit we went straight there!

Later that night some woman grabed my boobs in Patpong
