What's the best city to travel in Southeast Asia in a short period of time?

This is gonna be the first time I ever step out of my country (the Philippines). It'll only be a three-day stay, so I'm looking for advice on what Southeast Asian city to go to. We'll only be staying on the metropolis and not be going to the remote beaches and mountains. I'm currently eyeing on Bangkok because I like it's mix of exoticism and modernity. Thanks for the help!

Good choice for three days although you could use more time there.

Singapore is doable in three days and it's beautiful and has way less traffic than Bangkok. It's very easy to get around.

Also consider Hanoi and Saigon (HCMC).

But Singapore is very expensive, especially for someone coming from the Philippines. It also lacks Bangkok's exoticism.

It is costly though I don't know the OP's budget.

Yep it does lack the exotic element but is beautiful, clean and safe.

I wouldn't mind living there but first must win like a 50 mil. lotto.

.

Wherever you decide on, 3 days doesn't give you much time. Plan your itinerary wisely, making best use of your time.

For someone from Philippines, I think a visit to Singapore may be a little better as the traffic, pollution and some crowd issues can be stressful in the other cities recommended which are similar to Manila. Moreover with good public transport you can get to see more and do more in the limited time. Yes cost is an issue in SG but its doable if you can get relatively lower cost hotel/hostel. Eating in hawker centres ( clean and varied and safe ) can be not just economical but also interesting. Do your research to check up cost of flights, accomodation, transportation to the various cities. Wherever you decide, have a great break!

Singapore.

If you fly on Singapore Air, then you get a big discount if you want to take the Hop On/Hop Off buses around Singapore. When you get on the bus, you only need to show your boarding pass to the driver to get the discounted fare. Although I've been to Singapore a lot, I tried out the Hop On Hop Off bus in January for the first time and enjoyed it.

Happy Travels!
