what to do between Kyoto and Tokyo in Feb
My wife and I (in our 60s) and son & daughter-in-law (in their 20s) will be traveling between Kyoto and Tokyo for 2-3 days in February. What would be a good itinerary that would get us into scenic areas with hiking or other outdoor activities, but be easy to get to and from by public transportation?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Maybe Hakone...see above link. I'm not sure about the weather in the winter - you'd need to check into that....

I second Mara's recommendation for japan-guide.com!
Given the ease of high speed train travel in Japan, you might broaden your thinking to include areas that aren't BETWEEN Kyoto and Japan, but are easily reached from one or the other. For example, a few days in and around Kansai and Chugoku (Hiroshima, Miyajima, maybe Kurashiki) might fill your needs well. Enjoy!

At that time of year, because of the cold weather, I would head to the Izu Peninsula. Lots to do there and the cold weather should be less harsh there at that time. As you can see I third Mara's advice about the Japan Guide site.
