Good points. I was only assuming I could use KA flights (DragonAir) because I was doing so to Phnom Penh, which I'm now going to cut out because it's just too difficult and not even practical for going to Angkor Wat. I'll do my own flight from Bangkok to Siem Reap. Without the flights from Hong Kong to Phnom Penh and back again, I'm also able to add another day to the Beijing segment -- now 12 nights.

So I called AA One World and spoke to the most well-versed person I've spoken to yet. He checked and said that there are no flights with DragonAir from Guilin to Hong Kong (so I'm not sure why it shows up as a One World city), but then we talked on and on about what I want to do. He said my best bet is to end with a flight from Changsha to Hong Kong -- which is available, flights most days are at 11:10 AM. He said if I wasn't going to Changsha I should. ???? Interesting. I did a search here and found only two posts under Changsha, both questions that never got answered. But a very little research tells me it is both a culinary center and an arts center. Perhaps it is a good place to end up at starting from Beijing -- even if only for a final day and night? And at least it takes care of one flight I wouldn't have to worry about buying and I will know the exact date I want to get to Hong Kong -- so it seems a logical goal.

Meanwhile, I think I've got it all together now. I suddenly realized that this coming May/June I could START my ticket with my trip to Toronto for the Stratford and Shaw festivals. Ft. Myers-Chicago-Toronto-Miami. Then get on my own from Miami to Naples and when I start the Asia trip fly out of Miami (or Ft. Lauderdale) to Chicago-Shanghai-Osaka-Beijing---Changsha-Hong Kong-Bangkok-London-Miami-Ft.Myers. Total is something like 24,800 miles.
