Warm greetings Susanne (and well done on staying at the Eastin Grand; a fun-loving business acquaintance has enjoyed his occasional stays at her Sathorn location).
Topping this thread, as am also rather interested in hearing about new lodging developments in beloved *Bangkok*. (Owing to ongoing business travel fluctuations, my current and brief BKK meetings are largely limited to that timeless Four Seasons, one office building, the airport, and that so-ever humble - and yet always cherished and sentimental - Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge located within Suvarnabhumi.)
My (our) current Bangkok hotel/resort favourite is a 'yearling', The Siam. Rather unique, with some special friends involved with the property. Will be forever thankful for having stayed with her during soft opening rates, July '12. My review of her on my profile page only touches on the serenity and graciousness - and various, sublime, bathing options. If nothing else, do consider partaking of dining at her Chon Thai restaurant. Have been back for evening dining on ~ six separate occasions, and always a delight.
Savour your planning, Susanne, and should you ever desire lodging suggestions in our fine home of Singapore, honoured to assist. Warm wishes and flights to you and all this week,

Did I read that there is maybe a new Hilton property ready to open near the Emporium? There was construction of (another) hotel/mall complex across Sukhumvit from Emporium Mall, but not sure when it will be done.
I stayed at the new (opened in April) Marriott on Sukhumvit at Tonglor (soi 57). Nice, but a little far away from where I prefer to locate. Breakfast buffet was very nice.
I'm trying out the Sofitel on Sukhumvit in October. It has not been open all that long. It's near soi 15, and I've had the (very good) buffet, and have been to the rooftop bar (nice view) a few times. This time I'll try out one of their rooms.

Terminal 21 Mall. Near Asoke Skytrain stop and subway station. (Terminal 21 Mall is fairly new.)
Grand Centre Point Hotel.

Lots of stuff you can walk to. Lively area even up to 2 a.m.

I keep trying different hotels. this fall we will try the renaissance and the Conrad as well as a return to the anantara for 12 nights.
it seems that there are constantly new or rebranded hotels added to the hundreds already in bkk.

I'll be trying the new Mode Sathorn, www.modesathorn.com come November. I got the $75 soft opening rate. It's practically connected to the skytrain.

Re new Hilton....
So, it's not ACROSS from the Emporium because that location would be an odd numbered soi instead of even (soi 24); but the location is near Emporium though. There was construction across from Emporium. I thought it would become shopping/hotel complex. Anyone know for sure?
