Hi,

A colleague and I are traveling to Shenzen for business. We both have valid China visas. I am a US citizen; he is Pakistani. Our plans are to fly into Hong Kong and take ground transport to Shenzen.

Do we need any other kind of visa, or does the PRC visa cover us?

My colleague has a single entry visa. Does he need to worry about snafus like "entering HK counts once, entrying Shenzen counts as a second entry..." and then going back from Shenzen to HK - same worry?

Just confused about the whole thing...

There may be different issues for your Pakistani colleague. But for you, you require no visa of any sort to enter Hong Kong. To go from Hong Kong to Shenzen, you need a PRC visa. If/when you go back to Hong Kong, again, no visa required for you. If, however you were to re-enter Shenzen, you'd need a new PRC visa.

If Pakistanis also do not require any kind of visa for Hong Kong (and I don't know this), it should be the same for your colleague.

A visa is required for a Pakistani national to visit Hong Kong, even just for transiting to China (unless one has a diplomatic passport):
