I am sorry for not replying before now. I received my passport back from the SF consulate with a nice new Vietnam visa in about a week and a half. Included a total of $160 for 2 visas. Should be set to go. I dont arrive until January, though, I dont see any future problems.

Thanks for letting us know. It's important to gather info during this transition time.

My husband and I just received our looseleaf visas, which we obtained via mail through the embassy in Washington DC. We downloaded and filled out the online form, sent a money order for the total of $160, photo copy of passport info page, two photos each.

We sent them by trackable US mail, and enclosed a regular self addressed stamped envelope for the return. We did not need to send our passports.

The entire process took one week total.

Ginger 50 Did you send a black and white copy of your passport or a color copy? I have seen mixed info as to what is required.

Black and white. The form from DC embassy did not state color.

If you get your visa from the consulate, there are no other fees. You pass the visa on demand crowd and go straight into the customs line.

Complete price list is at the end of the thread.

Here's an update on price list provided by the DC embassy:

First of all, strongly recommends you to have the visa before you depart for Vietnam.

I. Total visa fee (no other fee will be required upon arrival):

A. 01 month, single entry: $80 per person

B. 01 month, multiple entries: $135 per person

C. 03 months, single entry: $110 per person

D. 03 months, multiple entries: $160 per person

E. 6 months, multiple entries (available for US passport holders only): $170 per person

E. 1 year multiple entry visa (available US passport holders only): $190 per person

Also, keep in mind that if you are traveling by air through any of the major airports, and are a tourist, you can use the relatively new government eVisa service which is much less expensive (this is different than a VOA).

It was $25 plus credit card processing fee as of the summer of 2017.
