I always do. The last-minute way I travel, it's a necessity. So is a mobile phone. The only annoyance is the vast cost of the internet at swizz hotels. Out of the cities I dunno about internet coverage, tho. Someone in here will know.
Failing all this, you'll find net-cafes everywhere.

To be honest, I don't see any potential probs traveling with a laptop. Internet connections are now available in all large hotels and resorts and most of small and medium ones as well. Some offer for free while the others charge different prices.

Free WiFi is common in newer hotels, especially those aspiring to "boutique" status. I now look for WiFi when choosing hotels. Googlemaps (at least for the bigger cities) really helps sort out city addresses. Email for reservations -- tours, fancier restaurants -- eases langauge problems. You can research museums and other attractions just as you would back home. All good reasons to tote a computer rather than line up for the single public computer in the hotel lobby. Useful enough, in fact, to consider buying one of the little notepad-style machines which are much more portable.
