Thanks Crellston - appreciate the fruit clarity - and of course hand washing is always important- unfortunately we can only control our own mitts - not anyone else's.
and the wipes I was mentioning were for insect DEET repellent, I like the idea as they will be easy to use whenever, wherever. Already bought the hand sanitizer!
now if I can only figure out where to get an MMR shot I'll be all set (no one in my town seems to have them, and my immunity from childhood seems to have evaporated )

The only time I got sick, probably from e coli, was after swimming with elephants in a large natural pool. The pool was fed by a fresh water stream, but I did not take into account that elephants poop anywhere they are. I needed half a day and half a bottle of Mekong Whisky to get over it.
Before and after that "stupid tourist adventure", no foodstuff I ate was able to do anything to my stomach.
More than half of my food in Thailand had been from street kitchens and food stands. And I always chose a busy one with mostly local customers.
In fact, I usually get some stomach problems each time I get back from SE Asia and start to eat only European food again.
