Trip Report: Cambodia

The link below will take you to a photo-essay of my trip from the Mekong to Phnom Penh and later to Siem Reap and the aMazing Angkor Complex. I hope you find something interesting here!

Negative, Rhkkmk? "Very negetive"? Come on. Read the whole thing, all the way through. Look at the wonderful photos, and then see if you can still stand by this undeserved snap (negetive) judgment.
It's refreshingly candid and honest, with sage observations. It's indeed interesting, and thanks to ClarePenn.

An enjoyable photo essay. How did you get your guide? Is his name Sakum? How much per day or hour. Did you get your own driver and car or did Sakum acquire both for you?

My wife and I head to Cambodia in February for 4 days or so with a stopover in Bankok for another 2-3 days.

Interesting report. Yes, Cambodia is hot, humid, and travel other than "first class" isn't easy. But, well worth it. Look at these great photos. Cambodia is a poor country with a hardly existent infastructure. I still wonder where they get the water and sewerage system for all the hotels built the last few years. Hardly any wells in the countryside.

Great travel blog. Thanks. Surprised only by your comment that the Cambodian children did not wave to the boat. We found them lovely and very friendly.

Miltoninhi: I'm very sorry for the late reply - this is probably too late and not even particularly useful since unfortunately I can't find the info on how to reach the guide. His name is Sakum and he provided the car and driver although if I remember correctly one of the days Sakum himself did the driving. The sites are a distance from each other and it certainly made all the touring easy (and quite a luxury for me) being driven around by a lively and informative guide. Enjoy!

Thanks Clare for the report. It is great and I don't blame you for not wanting to visit the Genocide Museum. My son is travelling in Cambodia at the present time and has spent about a week at Siem Reap and now has gone to the south coast. I loved your photos because I can now picture where my son has been and where he is going.

Thanks
Patricia
