Trekking and Diving

Hi,
We will be in Thailand for 2 weeks in mid April and would like to do some trekking in the north and some diving, if possible to see whale-sharks, in the south. I would appreciate any help in choosing a trekking agency and route in the north and a dive centre in the south where we could either dive from or organise a live aboard.
Thank you in advance,
Brian

In doing research for my own dive trip (this April)came used these guys for planning a live aboard trip. They come highly recommended and so far all communcations have been great.

hit enter too soon . . . here's a quote from the Siam Divers' website re: whale sharks:

Hin Daeng and Hin Muang
The sole reason that diving has become world class in Koh Lanta and Krabi are two pinnacles that lie approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Ko Rok. Hin Daeng (red rock) and Hin Muang (purple rock) offers everything a diver could want, from dramatic walls and big fish action, to lush tropical underwater gardens. . . .Whalesharks are one animal that we see repeatedly around these pinnacles and many years we see them on almost 70% of our trips there. Though we see whale sharks less now than we did in the 1990s, they are still around on a regular basis, more commonly in February, March, and April.

The Similan/Surin Islands provide the best opportunities to see whale sharks and you can either get a liveaboard from Phuket or, my preference, Khao Lak which is much closerand has a great variety of dive centres. April is towards the end of the season but the sea should be calm & viz good. Don't pay too much credence to the hype put out by the dive centres about the probability of seeing a whaleshark - they are a rare sight in Thailand but the diving is generally pretty good.
