There's a direct bus service eight times daily, which picks up at the Garden, China, International, Holiday Inn, and White Swan hotels in Guangzhou. The first departs at around 5.45am and the last at 4.25pm. The hotels can give you the details, or get a Mandarin speaker to call 020 8333 6888 ext. 5384. Tickets are HK$250 or a little more in RMB.

Peter - thanks for your prompt response. Seems as if you are the authority re: China travel since I have noticed your many posts. Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge.
Travel in China appears daunting for someone who has not done it before!
Anyways, how long is the trip?
Again, thank you. Jennie

This page is showing up to 16 departures from China Hotel in Guangzhou to HKG each day.
http://ctsbus.hkcts.com/routes/way-airport4.htm [They have a English side on that website, but the schedule for the Guangzhou service is not loading properly.]
The journey time will depend on traffic and wait time at the border. According to info on the website, this service uses the better Lok Ma Chou crossing and not Wong Kwong. But still delay is possible, especially during holidays. I'd give it about 3 hours,
And here's another company that does HK Airport to China.
Neither shows direct buses from Heshan. But you can probably try connecting at Jiangmen or Xinhui. Or take buses from Heshan to Shenzhen or Macau, and then take the TurboJet Sea Express service to the Hong Kong Airport.
