The night train can be a good experience, aside from saving sightseeing time. One time I wound up sharing a compartment with a university head and his wife.

jacketwatch, your trip report was great! I've resigned myself to the fact that it's going to be wall to wall people. I work at a museum where there are many Asian visitors. We appreciate them, but observing them day after day has been an eye-opening experience. Not necessarily bad - just different from what we're accustomed to. Patience will be the word of the day!
I am glad you found my TR useful.
FWIW I think you will find the experience of seeing the TCW far outweighing the crowds.
Speaking of crowds we leave for India in a few days. Gotta brace myself.

jacketwatch, we went to India three years ago and just loved it. The only time the crowds were an issue was when my husband and older daughter were almost trampled in Varanasi! Actually, except for that, Varanasi was the highlight of our trip. I posted several blogs if you're interested. www.twoboomersabroad.com. You'll have a wonderful time.

Thank you. I will look at that link but first I need my coffee.
this will actually be our eighth trip to India as my wife is from the state of Rajasthan. We’re going to stay in Delhi for a few days to see her family and then fly to Dubai for five days and then take a seven day cruise out of Dubai. After that we go back to Delhi for a few more days and then back home so it’ll be around three weeks away.
All the best

Your blog is amazing Ellen. I did subscribe and I looked at your blog about Old Delhi. It brings back memories as we were there too and I do recall being in the chili market and the strong smells.
I looked at your bio and see you’re from upstate New York. I very good friend of ours lives in Rochester and we actually toured some of the vineyards in the finger Lakes area. There was a very cool restaurant there called the Weinery which could very well fit in with Guy Fieris Diners, Drive ins and Dives. I had one of the best hamburgers in my life at that place. I don’t suppose you know about that but I thought I would ask. .
now that I know about your blog I will certainly read more about your great adventures.

Thank you for your kind words, Larry. I love writing it and I love more when people enjoy reading it. We have two adventures before China; Egypt and Russia. Have a wonderful time in India and on your cruise!

Yes, Rochester is just up the road. I hadn't heard about the The Wienery but it's even closer to us than Rochester. We'll give it a try!
