We like the rooftop beer gardens on top of the main department stores - but both Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi and Takashimaya are undergoing big renovations this summer so both roofs are closed. The Forest Garden beer garden in the outer gardens of the Meiji Shrine is very popular - the thing to be careful about is that many of these places operate under an 'all you can eat and drink' within a specified timeslot - which might not work for you if you just want to hang out, have some beers and some nibbles. Tokyo Cheapo is a great source of info. Savvy Tokyo is geared to working women, Best Living Tokyo to families, Time Out sometimes seemed to rely too heavily on paid promotions but those (and Tokyo Weekender) are all useful sources.
