I almost forgot - the dock people were of course statues, at the artist's house.

Few bonus pix of Thailand from Tom's photos - his sunsets are better than mine.

I loved just reading this all in one go. Your sense of humor makes it quite a treat to read your report. Looking forward to going back and savoring the photos as well.
Thank you for this delightful escape!

Hi Gertie - yes it's still freezing here. Freezing fog in fact.
Thanks Maryalice - I think you need a sense of humour (and patience) to travel, otherwise any TR just becomes a long list of miserable rants about how your shower dripped, how you were mortally offended that the staff at the Radisson didn't recognise you were repeat customers etc etc. I will hopefully add some more photos to Tom's album if/when he gets round to uploading his Vietnam ones to Flickr too.

I notice that there seems to have been a huge increase in traffic since the introduction of the new style boards - posts with just a few replies numbering into the hundreds or thousands - wheras old posts, even if they have many comments, seem to log much total lower visits. So I'm bumping this in case there are new interested parties!
