Thai massage

I've read so much about Thai massage on this and other forums. What can anyone tell me about the actual experience? I read about the large one in Bangkok that is all in one room, but what what do you wear etc?
Thanks from a rookie.

Basic Thai massage is like a mixture of accupressure and chiropractic manipulation. There is no quick snapping like in chiro, but there is some bending and twisting to stretch muscles and joints. I strongly suggest that you get the 2 hour massage. It gives you plenty of time to ease into the process and relax. The massage is given with loose clothes. My memory is that at Wat Pho, the big room, they give you very loose fitting clothes into which you change. From my peculiar viewpoint, Thai massage is one of the best activities in Thailand and the world. However, it is not for everyone.

Gpanda,
What is the best time of day to have the massage at Wat Pho? Are the 'loose clothes' they give you clean? Or have other people been wearing them? I'm not a snob, but do draw the line on wearing other peoples sweaty garments. Please tell.
Thanks

You can wear your own clothes, or use theirs if yours are too tight or restrictive. I wore my own everytime, but my daughters in their tight jeans used the wat's. They say they were clean.

We actually arrange to have the masseurs come to our hotel. It's easy. Either do it at Wat Pho, hunt around you'll find them, or they have a phone number you can call. I've lost it, but there is a web site, try google.

The reason we like the hotel is that we can relax completely. Take a shower either before or after, control the air conditioning and not worry about travel afterwards.

Check the search engine on this board for several other posts about Wat Pho massage.
