Taxi Cost in Singapore
Hi, can anyone please tell me approximate prices on taxi cab rates in Singapore? What would it cost me to ride from SIN airport to downtown? Or, say, from Chinatown to Marina Bay?
Thank you in advance.
Vince.

There are quite a few different surcharges...one for riding on certain streets during rush hour, a central business district surcharge, one for night hours, one if you call for the cab, etc. Here is a pretty good calculator. I think they have a list of the cab stands. You can't just hail a cab off the street.

I use comfort cabs when I am in Singapore and have them on speed dial now, usually not too much of a wait ( unless it's raining and then everyone wants a cab
)
I can post the number if you want it ( or I guess you could google it!)

you can hail cabs off the street. All cabs are metered and the different companies charge substantially the same price (less than $1usd difference).
Peak hour travelling and travelling from the city areas would be more expensive.
That said, the transport system is great and strongly recommended - approx $1-S$2 per trip

I should have said, you can't just hail a cab off any street.
There are whole areas, many streets and restricted hours where cabs cannot stop to load passengers.
but it sounds like the rules changed last year:
