Mrs.W: So glad you enjoyed! It is high time that I made a return visit.

I always dressed casually. Simple cotton tops (no logo t-shirts, for example); plain cotton or linen pants, sometimes even the Capri length. Sandals.

I don't remember seeing many patrons who were dressed up, even in the nicer places. Remember that you can always buy clothes once you arrive. Do not follow in my shoes and lug a heavy suitcase stuffed with things that will never make it out of the case! I plan to turn over a new leaf myself on my next trip!

A great report. That is a responsible traveller.

MrsWally, we were in Vietnam in 2011, and found it to be a quite casual place (all over the country), even at nicer restaurants. I dressed similarly to eks, and was even know to (heaven forbid!) wear sneakers to a nice restaurant or two (if we didn't return to our hotel to change before dinner). Simple top, capris or pants, flats or sandals.

Just came across this and wanted to re-post in memory of our dear, much loved, and too-soon-silenced Panda.

How much joy you brought to these Asia forums. It's not the same without you, Panda-rini!

Much love and happy travels, eks
