Singapore hotel - Modern and with a great pool.
Hi there,
we have been to Singapore before and stayed at Copthorne Orchid ( before and after a cruise ). This time we are having a stopover on the way home from Europe. We want a nice modern hotel with a big pool area. ( preferably in a good position Near Boat Quay area )
Look forward to your opinions

The Shangri-La is an older (but well maintained) property, but it has the best pool and garden area in Singapore. I couldn't think of any hotel near Boat Quay with a good pool. Central Singapore is quite congested and even the nice hotels have crowded pool areas. The Shang with its lovely gardens is really an exception.

If you want a place with a beautiful pool set in nice gardens, it'll have to be away from the boat quay. The Grand Hyatt has recently re-done all of their rooms. In the middle of the complex (The two buildings form a V around it) is a beautiful garden area with waterfalls and a lovely pool. The Grand Hyatt is located in the midst of the shopping area, near the corner of Scotts road and Orchard road.

Having just seen the Fullerton featured on the front cover of Coned Nast’s Traveller Magazine’s recent issue of Gold List hotels, and also featured in the book Luxury Hotels of Asia, I have to give my vote to the Fullerton. It is in one of my favourite buildings in S’pore, the old post office. I have not seen it since it reopened as a hotel, but the pictures look great and you can’t beat the location. It would not be really green, but the river and city views may make up for it. The pool looks wonderful. Take a look at http://www.fullertonhotel.com/
