silom serene

Okay, last time im asking about hotels. I think I found a good hotel to stay in - the Silom serene. Just want to be sure: good? bad?

the pics look beautiful...hope they are true....there was mention of patpong....is it in that area? if so i would be leery...

its on silom road, next to the shopping malls (robinsons, etc.)

it's near Patpong... but then again fodorites don't seem to mind staying at swiss lodge..

anyways the red light district is fairly compact from.. about 3 small soi's.

the silom serene is a couple of blocks away from the action...

Robinson dept store is not the close.. CENTRAL dept store is much closer and a way better.

We stayed there on last visit in October last year. It's on a fairly busy street early morning and late afternoon - lots of people going to work etc.. but the hotel's good, great staffs. Pool's nothing to shout about but all in it was a good stay. The room we stayed in had a small kitchen area with round dining table as you enter the room, helpful if you're into take away food. There's a great hawker selling deep fried fish (tilapia & goroumi) at the junction onto the main road. Breakfast's the usual hotel grub but it's great to sit near the glass window looking at people rushing about to work. Then again there's a good Thai breakfast place just across the road - you can't miss it for the sheer locals it attracts. And the pics are fairly representative of the hotel.
