Side trips from Singapore?
I haven't seen this topic in a couple years so am wondering if opinions have changed. My BF and I have the luxury of taking a side trip (3-4 days max) from Singapore in March.
So many choices!
We want relaxation, local culture, options for adventures, and a bit of romance - with safety being paramount. I'm concerned with going somewhere too far - I don't want to eat up all our time getting there. Other than that...
Thoughts?

Fron Singapore I would go to Indonesia for a 4 days(3 nights) mini side trip. I would choose either Ubud(in Bali) for 3 nights or Java(Borobudur) for 3 nights.
If your budget permit then in Java the Amanjiwo, one of the best hotel in the world, does offer a 3 night package which include tours and other perks. In Ubud check with the hotels there but the top hotels are the Como Shambala, Four Seasons etc.
Or perhaps 3 nights on a coral island in the Maldives, no local culture, but beautiful and very romantic.
All the destination above are within 2 - 3 hours flying time from Singapore.

You're right, too many choices! My tops would be Bali (either Ubud or the beach), Siem Reap/Angkor. (Note that March 23 is an important holiday in Bali and the airport is closed.) The Amanjiwo in Central Java is an excellent suggestion. I'd also think about Hanoi and Laos, but I haven't been to either yet.

I have done a few side trips from SP, I would go with Ubud in Bali or as Hanuman suggested Amanwijo ( this one I have yet to do)
We flew Air Asia to Bali but Singapore airlines offer good value flights too. Flight time is not to long and I think you would get all you want in Ubud.
