Shirakawa-Go light on transport
Anyone can provide me details of the buses to go for the light on, have tried many links and all are full. We have 7 of us, will be very disappointed if can't make it up there to see.

Sorry I can't help with your specific question, but thought I would mention that you can see -- and explore -- gassho-zukuri farmhouses at the open-air museum in Takayama:

Some of the Takayama hotels charter their own buses, and people do cancel, so keep trying. I would contact my hotel now, and see if they have their own bus going, or perhaps they can get you on a waiting list. You can even try again when you get to Takayama.
We stayed at the Best Western in Takayama--maybe you could try contacting them now.
There are strict rules about private cars arriving in Shirakawa-go, but I am wondering if seven people can charter their own bus, perhaps a mini-van and driver?

Thanks California...if I knew, should have book best western...I'll be there on the 14th and 15th of Feb. If they do have seats and rooms available, I can cancel my accommodations in Takayama, its free cancellation. Hopefully, you can bring me some good news.
Cheers
