Hello:

We are trying to decide between the Sheraton Perdana and Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort. The websites offer insufficient information and I was wondering if anyone had been to either?

Any info. would be appreciated,

Ben

The Perdana is not "IN" Kuah town. It is about a 15 minute walk into the town and you walk through a forest with live monkeys AND you pass the Yacht Club which has a public bar and restaurant overlooking the marina. The Perdana does have a beach as well as three huge swimming pools. The Hotel is built down the hillside towards the water, so when you arrive you are out lobby level, and you rake eleveators down to the room floors. All three pools are above the beach with gentle steps down.

I thought the Perdana was especially good, and the food was superb, the rooms large, and the service was very good.

On the days that you don't want to spend eight hours by the pool or by the beach, it is good to be within walking distance of the town and shopping.

I think if you run a search for comments on THIS forum for the Sheraton Perdana you will finally uniformally excellent reports.

Michael from New York.

We stayed at the Perdana last year and, apart from everything Michael mentions, one of the major attractions for us was that it IS fairly close to Kuah, whilst still retaining the feel of a self-contained resort. So we could pop into town regularly for shopping, restaurants, night market, hawker stalls, etc and generally experience a bit more of the local atmosphere than if we had been in a resort on the far coast, where we would have felt more "trapped".

We stayed at both hotels and the Perdanawas our favorite. If you go try booking via the Sheraton 800 number we did and got the best rate as compared to the various Hotel bargain sites and the Sheraton site.

Ask for an upgrade try for a room at Reception Level in the center of the complex. Very romantic, may be the most beautiful we have ever seen. Enjoy

the one out of town is the best....the langkawi beach resort...it is a bit spread out, which can be nice or not so nice depending where you get put...but the pool and the beach area are both very nice....food was expensive there bur good...rooms are fabulous...try the bon ton restaurant along the beach toward town...run by austrailans---just simply great---good food very romantic as well...they also have a place in KL
