GPandas' DIL here:
After Gpanda linked everyone to our blog, we got a lot of great advice from Fodorites. So we've decided to give the Fodors forum a try. We are looking for advice about village hikes around Longsheng, Guilin area. I posted a more detailed query here:

We are not Fordorites yet, but who knows! Maybe we'll end up at one of these crazy state side group dinners that GP raves about.

Thank you! Thank you, for such a funny blog! The videos with music and sound -- loved hearing the 'zzzap' when another fruit fly bites the dust! And, crossing the street! I found myself laughing out loud. I just hope I can make it across when we're there -- could we have any more moving vehicles?

Beijing very wise decision. IMHO Suzhou needs more than a day trip, it was one of my favorite towns because of the gardens, and very few western tourists. Read my trip report which earned an inclusion in Fodor's new China boof

Good article over the weekend in the Wall St. Journal about Suzhou which is just outside Shanghai. I would love to get there but we ran out of time this last trip (spring '09) so hopefully can do it next time. Also Hangzhou and Nanjing (more than a day trip).
