Safety in Bangkok?

How safe is it for two girls to travel to Bangkok? Thanks...

Bangkok is one of the safest places in the world, even for two girls. There is little random violence (though plenty of targetted violence to settle business disputes etc.). One is even safe walking dark streets at night.

Of course, as with any place one should exercise some caution and do nothing that might be open to misinterpretation.

I agree. I'm 26, and although I go to BKK with my husband, occasionally we split up for one reason or another, and I've always felt perfectly safe, even at night.
Although I had someone traveling with me-a guy- we often went our own way. I never felt unsafe on the river taxi or catching a cab alone. People were so helpful. There are part of the city as any city that size you would not venture alone. It's a wonderful city to explore on one's own.

Don't worry. We were two females in our late twenties traveling last Christmas. Went to BKK and around the rest of the country. Never had any problems other than what the normal tourist experiences. Have a great time!
