Take the deal. More than double for PE is simply too much and you won't be suffering in any case.

Amen, MmePerdu.

Jackie, grab the Cathay basic coach seat, and put the extra money toward your next trip.

Oops, I messed up. ANA is $990, Cathay is $1300 for economy. Has anyone flown ANA?

"No need to fear Asia its safe."

Far too sweeping a statement. Asia is a very big place. On the one hand, Japan is super-safe, on the other Afghanistan and Kashmir are effectively war zones. SEA is pretty safe, on the other hand India, for a solo female traveler, not so much these days.

What a difference a day makes! My sister is now joining me. I have been traveling with her family for many years and we travel well together. Minor concessions were to leave mid October and spend a few days at beach.

Also, while working out the details it looks like Cathay Pacific went on sale. I got tickets out of NYC for $632. And, the day before, we can get a direct flight out of Wilmington for about $200.

Thanks again for all your help.
