Resort Dilema....??

We're going on our honeymoon to Phuket in May and have narrowed our search of hotels/resorts down to the following, has anybody got any suggestions. There are just so many to choose from.

Laguna Phuket - Dusit Laguna and Sheraton Grande Laguna, Cape Panwa or The Chedi.

Many Thanks.

Katy, both the 'Laguna' hotels are truly excellent properties, only trouble is they are remote, but that may be what you wish. Chedi is known for excellent service/accomodation. Cape Panwa used to be a Sheraton many years back, this is on south est of island, on it's own. I would say the Lagunas best bet. There are as you say so many to choose from. Thavorm Palm and Kata Thani may be worth looking into. http://www.asiatravel.com has a comprehensive listing, photos, info, worth lookin at. Good luck

Thank you Sarah, I really appreciate your opinion and your suggested website, the trouble is online they all look so idyllic don't they? We don't mind being in a remote spot so may we'll go for one of the Lagunas. Thanks again.

Hi Katy, one spot you should definitely consider is Banyan Tree Phuket or Dusit Krabi. If you're into total lounging and relaxing, both places are excellent. I've been to Banyan tree twice and each time seems like a honeymoon to me. the service is excellent and the spa massages are out of the world. the pool villas are fabulous. dusit laguna and sheraton laguna are next to banyan tree and the great thing about laguna phuket is that you can take free boat rides to each hotel, eat there and bill it to your room at the other hotel. it's so convenient. Krabi dusit is remote you;ll feel you're somewhere deep in the jungle. whichever you pick, have fun.
Katy,
Do you know what the weather will be like in May? We were also considering a honeymoon in Thailand but was told the monsoon season was in Phuket in May? Please let me know if you've learned otherwise!

Hi Stefanie, Well I've heard people have had different experiences but we're not so worried really, however having said that we visited Borneo last year at around the same time and every afternoon like clock work the heavens opened and it didn't stop raining until well into the early hours of the next morning. I must admit it was a little frustrating at first because we had to be up most days at the crack of dawn to make the most of the sunshine but to be honest it was so very HOT and humid that all in all the showers came as light relief.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that the weather holds out for us this year. Have a nice trip.
