Never been there, but Relong is a small place in remote Sichuan. Over a 14,000ft pass from Wolong.
It's not a place you go there casually (as the road is most likely impassable many months a year), so you must have heard something about it? I doubt you have many choices for accommodations either.

Anyways, that Balangshan Pass is very photogenic, as I've seen many pictures of its zig-zag alpine roads. [It's the first hard pass on the main torturous road from Chengdu to Tibet.] And main sights in the area are to see the "4 Ladies Mountain", and to go up the Changpinggou valley.

Thanks, rkkwan,
We'd be going to Relong as part of a private tour from Chengdu focused on visiting the Wolong Panda Reserve and then hiking in the Relong area. I'm trying to figure out how long to stay in the Relong area. Right now, the tentative itinerary has 2 nights there.

In my out-to-date guidebook, they mention a "Relong Guesthouse" as basically the only place to stay overnight there. I'm sure whoever organizes your private tour will get you "the best" place to overnight. Just expect it to be primitive.
BTW, after looking at my maps, this road is not the main road from Chengdu to the west. Instead, it's just one of the routes.
