Question for Rhkkmk?
I know you stay at the Marriot Resort (seen in your previous posts) and I wondered when you arrived in Bangkok what type of transportation do you use to get there? There is 4 of us travelling and I was thinking of booking a limo thru AAC.
The hotel (shuttle) quoted me 3000 baht which seems high. AAC quotes @ 945 baht, which sounds definitely better!
Any advice would be great.
Thanks
Jane

I'm not Bob, but he always recommends AAC. Hotel cars are always much. much more. If you do a search on AAC limo, you'll find the email address Bob uses to reserve a car in advance. AAC had a desk at teh old airport, but only AOT has a desk at the new airport.

I suggest you use the AOT limousine service. You will find there desk right in the baggage claim area, or directly outside. They charge 700 BHT for 4 people in a normal sized vehicle and 1100 BHT for 4 people and all their luggage in a van. This price includes all tolls and the service was just fine. I also ordered them to pick us up at the hotel (same price) and they were at the hotel 30 minutes early.
No need to order in advance at the airport, but if you want to - here's the phone number - 081-6524444. We went to the Phatumwan Princess but I assume they will drive you to any hotel. BTW, our hotel wanted 1600 BHT for the ride. 3000 is really inflated.

AOT is more expensive than AAC, at least this was so in November (and October and December). Steve must have lucked out and gotten a special price. In November the lowest price was 800 baht to the Hyatt, Four Seasons, etc. It was 1100 to the Royal Orchid (another "special" price) and 1200 from the Royal Orchid back to the airport. As noted by Steve, a van will be more, and you'll likely need it for 4 of you and your luggage.

I just used AOT in December. The going rate was 1200, but I got them down to 900. I was one person. I would have taken a taxi for about 300, but due to my knee injury I just needed to get some fast transportation. I've never pre-booked airport car service in Bangkok. Either I get it when I get there or sometimes have a driver sent for me from my apartment complex. But, I usually just arrange it upon arrival. Happy Travels!

Thank you so much, you have all saved me some cash! I thought the 3000 sounded high so I am glad I asked. I will probably use AAC, I checked their site and the prices looked great and I am glad to hear they are reliable.
Therefore I have another question....going from Bangkok to Hua Hin for a couple days(and back). Same 4 people. "Oriental Escapes" offered a van for around 6400 baht return..booking in advance feels like to would be a good idea then it is one less thing to arrange when I am there. I was told the using the hotel concierge might be much higher. Again any input (from anyone!) is much appreciated. We are seasoned travellers but its first time in Thailand! Really looking forward to it. This website and all your posts have been invaluable to me. We even have Tong booked for a day.
Thanks to all,
Jane

I'm sure AAC could give you a good price to Hua Hin - ask for a van. Theirs is likely to be the best price. WHen you are in Hua Hin, you can arrange for a ride back to Bangkok for much less that direction. If you are staying at the Hyatt in Hua Hin, the Hyatt in Bangkok runs a shuttle for an excellent price.

everyone's answers are correct....i used AAC on this last trip and it was cheap as always...AOT might be more convenient for you as they are right there and if there is any question about size it can be immediately adjusted....size: a sedan with 4 people is ok, but depending on the number of cases it might not work so you might need a van which is higher always by 30-50%....trips to the marriott, penn and hilton always cost more as they are on the "other" side of the river....so the 900 steve speaks of might be 1000 to marriott...
we used aac to hua hin a few years ago and it was fabulous $75 one way...
this year we used the hyatt van as we were staying at hyatt HH....if you are then it is 500 pp.....reservations are necessary in advance however....that van takes you from hyatt to hyatt (bkk-hh)
