Question about weather in Phuket

I'll be in Phuket in early October. I know this is their "wet" season, but how bad is it? Does is rain all day? Or does it rain for a few hours and then clear up? I've read that they get on average 22 days of rain in October.

Thanks.

October is the perfect time to go. When we were there (mid October), the weather was beautiful.

Hi Max, Went with hubby and kids to Bangkok & Phuket last october. We found it rained most days, late afternoon or around 6-7pm. It was dry most other times. Don't worry about it, it didn't interfere with our holiday at all, apart from actually getting caught in really heavy rain one night and got soaking wet and waded through water back to our hotel, it was all part of the fun. Most hotels have large umbrellas they loan out. If you try to get transport while it's raining, they'll probably charge about 10 times more than if it wasn't raining. Go and enjoy, it was great.
Teresa

Max,

Don't worry about the weather at all! Phuket is just like many other places in South East Asia with dry & wet seasons - Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta etc. These places rains quite a lot but rarely for all day long. I went to Phuket in June 1998 (believed to be wet season too) & had all sunny days for the 6 days trip. Try your luck & enjoy your holiday!

hi i just came back from phukett two days ago it is supposed to be the rainy season but it rained cats and dogs one afternoon for about 2 hrs and that was it a bit of claud in the sky but they were welcomed otherwise the sun would be too strong, we stayed at the Merlin in Patong to be recommended they had free umbrella in the wardrobe. would not stay anywhere else if i go again it was very clean beautiful setting although you had the shopping at the front you could not hear a thing when you were in the pool have a nice holiday
