Palace on Wheels/Cox&Kings
We are thinking of taking the Palace on Wheels tour and/or going on a tour of Rajasthan thru Cox&Kings. Any comments from anyone who may have used either service would be greatly appreciated.

Some years ago, I had arranged for an elderly man to be picked up at a train station in Delhi and put on a flight to Goa, through Cox&Kings. Their handling of the logistics and service during transit was outstanding. I also know of out-of-India visitors who have used Cox&Kings for airport pickup and other services within India, and they are spoken very highly of. My understanding is they are a high-end outfit.

We also considered both Palace on Wheels and Cox&Kings. We are going with Cox&Kings because friends HIGHLY recommended them, and we now have a customized an itinerary just for us. Also, I hear POW has gotten a bit shabby, the food is not good, and the rooms tiny. Cox&Kings trip is less expensive than POW too, and we will see much more in a more leisurely pace. We will be staying in some Heritage hotels which look incredibly beautiful. POW socked us for a 20% penalty a few years back when my husband needed emergency by-pass surgery...even though we notified them in time for just the 10% cancellation penalty. So I admit to being a bit biased.
