Oberoi prices?
has anyone been able to get prices for Oberois (in India) better than what can be found on their website? We will be going in November, so high season. we have not been working with a travel agent because so far we've been able to do most hotels ourselves and a friend in india will arrange a car+ driver for us. but if you can get prices much better through an agent, we'll reconsider. FWIW, i'm seeing around $500/night in Agra, Jaipur Oberois. has anyone done better than that in November?

We reserved Oberoi hotels through an agency in Delhi (Compass Tours) - this was February 2005 (also high season) and although prices continue to go up, up, up - you can probably save about $100/nt going through a local agency.

Namaste Lerasp!
I see you are still trying to upgrade from the Sheraton, and yes, there is a world of differnce between the two properties. i have stayed in both!
But if u can not change, the Sheraton is still a fine property for a night or two.
Of course, The Amar vilas is extrordinary and a highlight in and of itself!
Unforuntatly, the prices of the Oberoi properties thru India have been sky~rocketing. In addition, they are almost completely sold out for the comming season, many dates on waitlist!!
That said, many of the bigger local agenices do negoitate their own rates as per high volume bookings, but the Oberois are really so full and overbooked, there are generally not great discounts out there these days! but never give up!
I wld be happy to check on the situation for u at a local agency in Delhi that i favor and have connections with, as per their discounted rates and avaialbility. I know they do a high volume amount of Oberoi bookings during the season, and may still have some luck.
feel free to drop me aline at [email protected] Happy to help!
