Need help deciding on present to send new friend in Thailand

I have been emailing back and forth with a new friend I met in Thailand. She was such a great help to me on a recent trip and we just sort of hit it off. I wanted to send her something and maybe something for her young daughter. I live in the US. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas of something Thai people might really appreciate that is not readily available there. They have beautiful clothing, crafts, etc. I am just stuck trying to think of something. I would really like to send something she would really like. Any ideas?

Sorry if this sounds silly. I just want it to be something special.

Thanks, AprilA

they might appreciate something unique to your home area....we often bring pieces of hand made pottery from usa....this is expensive to ship...

we may bring local sports baseball hats for some friends this time...

its a bit hard as you say as they have availability of most consummer items in thailand...

a gift certificate for something from a shop or restaurant near to their house...

Thai women love cosmetics such as Clinique and Channel, although available in Thailand, they may be cheaper in the US. As for the daughter, maybe clothing that says the name of a city or place in the US.

Thanks for the ideas!! My husband and daughter are both big North Carolina Tarheel fans so that might be a good *from North Carolina present*.

I love the cosmetics idea but not really sure what to buy exactly. Maybe if the frienship continues and we get to know each other better, that will be a future little gift.

Thanks again, April

I always take several boxes of good chocolate. My Thai friends always love it. Yes, chocolate is available there, but they don't buy it because there are too many necessary places to spend their hard earned baht. The boxes of chocolate are always a hit.

Also, I've picked up Coach bags here in the US. Coach was not available at all until just recently, maybe there is a shop in Paragon??? Anyway, little Coach bags were also nice gifts.
