Nanjing or Hangzhou?

I have a day or two to spare on when in China and was considering visiting one or the other of these cities. Anybody got any advice on which would be best? Also visiting Beijing, Tunxi, Huang Shan, Suzhou, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Prefer Hangzhou. Beautiful Xi (West) Lake. Several tourist attractions around the lake and can be done easily by yourself within 1-2 days. Pretty close to Suzhou (3 hours train??) and Shanghai.

No contest -- definitely Hangzhou! Unless you have a particular reason for visiting Nanjing, Hangzhou offers much in the way of natural beauty and cultural interest for the general traveler.

Cut Suzhou out and do Hangzhou and Nanjing. They're both better than Suzhou. Be sure to rent a bike in Hangzhou, as it is the best way to see the city.

Hangzhou is very nice.See West Lake and have West Lake fish.We also had chicken baked in mud that was good.Be sure to have Long Jing tea which is good and a local product. But I liked the Temple of Inspired Seclusion/Lingyin Si.Parts are up to 1000 yrs old.If you love temples don't miss it.I have never seen anything like it.Also surrounding the temple are buddahs carved into clifts done from the 10th to 14centuries.There are many to see.The fat laughing buddah is the best known carving. This is just west of the lake area.We parked right next to growing tea!Have a good time!

If Chinese Gardens are special to you, go to Suzhou. It is known for it's gardens, some 800 years old, and it's canals. There are many gardens, I saw 4.They are really beautiful.Try to see The Master of the Nets Garden and as many as you can see!The city itself is quaint with life along the canals. There are very good buys on freshwater pearls also.

Thanks guys, your help is much appreciated. I am hoping that we will be able to fit in both Suzhou and Hangzhou
