Myanmar tourist visa processing times
My husband and applied in the middle of March (March 19) for tourist visas to Myanmar. Sixteen business days have come and gone. Does anyone have any idea what the actual processing time is for tourist visas to Myanmar? Embassy website says six days, private visas agencies say ten days. We called the embassy but they said they are still waiting to hear from the Dept. of Immigration. We fly on April 19 to Yangon via Singapore but we just learned that all govt. offices are closed from April 12-April 23 for the Water Festival. We have requested the embassy to send back our passports to us on April 11 so that we can depart to Singapore. Any thoughts?

Please advise:
1. How you sent your application (ie regular, express mail)
2. Where you sent you application from and where you sent it to (ie Washington, DC, Bangkok etc.)
From my own experience, we sent our applications via Priority mail (US post office with delivery confirmation) to the embassy in Washington DC and enclosed an express mail envelope for the return. We received our visas in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for your replies. I sent the application by USPS overnight with delivery confirmation. I am hoping that the delay is simply an issue of the government being in the process of moving its offices and the government staff preparing for their big holiday. I am thinking of calling the offices in Yangon tonight to see if I can get any more information. The folks in Washington DC have been very nice (spoke with them twice today) but they don't seem to have any information about where the visa is in its approval or denial stage.

If you put "writer", "journalist" or "photographer" on your application as professional occupations, plan on not visiting this country.
I didn't know that they were moving their offices in DC(?) I am sure they are not sitting around "preparing" for their big holiday.
