My Bangkok trip report

Hi

Last year I went to Bangkok and Samui with my wife. I have now posted a Bangkok trip report on my page http://gardkarlsen.com/Bangkok_trip_report_2007.htm and as you will see it includes pictures, links, a Google map, videos etc. I hope that this can be of help to first time travelers to Bangkok and at least give an impression of what you can expect of Bangkok. Part 2 of the trip report (Samui) will be available soon.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions

Regards
Gard

Nice blog Gard. Slight error when you wrote "Sawasdee Kaa" it should be "Sawasdee Krub".

Hi

I assume that you are referring to the opening and that I should say Krub and not Kaa as Kaa is the female form of it? Well, my idea of the "Sawasdee Kaa " in the opening is that it is a phrase that you hear a lot in Bangkok and in Thailand...it was not meant as a phrase from me to the readers. Or have I misunderstood your point?

Sawasdee Kaa is the greeting spoken by Since your blog is written by a man and it's easy to know that from your photos and references to your wife, then the appropriate greeting would be Sawasdee Krup/Sawasdee Krub since you, the writer, are a man.

Of course you hear Sawasdee Kaa all the time in Thailand, because many of the people greeting you in hotels, restaurants and shops are indeed women.

Hi

Thanks for the kind feedback. I do hope that the trip report can be of help to others and I think that my Google map of Bangkok (see http://gardkarlsen.com/bangkok_map.htm ) can help people understand the layout of Bangkok and where the various attractions are located

Regards
