Movies in Tokyo
I am wondering about going to see a movie while we are in Tokyo. We love to go to movies when we travel. So, on one of our evenings in Tokyo, we're scheduling in a visit to a movie theatre. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I appreciate all of the help that I have received to date and will report back on our trip upon our return.

Just ask in your hotel which theater is nearby and/or easiest for you to get to. The theaters are all modern and clean, with basically the same movies (with a bit of variation, like in the US) and the same price. Be careful that you choose a movie with English sound...with foreign films, there is often a choice between Japanese subtitles and Japanese dubbing.

Late shows (after 8:00 or 9:00 pm), senior citizens, children, and women on lady's day (different theaters, different lady's day system) are ¥1000 or or ¥1200 where we are, usual tickets ¥1800 - ¥2000. For special promotions, you can buy advance ticket vouchers for a discount (which we've done for Harry Potter coming out end of this month), or you can get discounts by buying vouchers from some ticket outlets. Discount isn't so great to seek them out...but my husband and daughter were seeing a movie and they offered the discount for Harry so they bought them then..

I think the best place for you to see a movie in Tokyo would be the Roppongi Hills Cinema. It has a pretty cool design and outside the theater you can have a good view of Tokyo. Good people watching too and they also have late night shows. You could combine this with a visit to the observation deck at Roppongi Hills and a stroll and dinner in the nearby Azabu Juban area. I live in Tokyo and I would say this is the best place to see a movie.
