Mooncake Festival in Japan

Hi,

I was just wondering if people in Japan celebrate the tradtional Mooncake Festival and are mooncakes sold in Japan? I am planning to visit some friends in Japan and was wondering if I should bring them some mooncakes. Thanks.
No, they don't. The company I work for (in Shanghai) was just ordering our mooncakes to give to our biggest clients, and the Japanese marketing team elected NOT to give the Japanese-run companies mooncakes (but to give them a different gift for a Japanese festival), because they don't celebrate it. I think your friends might prefer something from your home country.

Moon cake festival is solely celebrated by Chinese. But if you're Chinese , your Japanese friends might appreciate your gesture. I alway invite my non-chinese friends to my moon cake party in UK. They just love the colourful lanterns and different varieties of moon cakes.

A mooncake is sort of a large cookie baked with lian-yong (lotus) fillings. It's yummy!
