MEDICAL SITUATION - BANGKOK
My brother-in-law is terminally ill in a Bangkok hospital. Two of his siblings will be traveling from JFK to Bangkok on Thursday. He is too ill to travel back to the U.S.
He needs hospice care now. Does anyone have any ideas?
Also, any suggestions of a hotel convenient to the Saint Louis Hospital? The address is 27 South Sathorn Road.
Thank you.

Saint Louis Hospital is a good, multi-speciality care hospital. They should be able to arrange hospice care for your brother-in-law.
There are many hotels in the area, look at this webpage:
www.bangkok.com/hotels/sathorn
and this one www.bangkok-maps.com/sathorn.htm
The address of the Metropolitan Hotel is also 27 South Sathorn.
Since you are traveling soon, you might check www.latestays.com for bargain rates.
My condolences to you and your family.

St Louis is quite some distance from the Met. I think there's now a Fraser Place right next to the hospital. It's quite nice but not too expensive.
Kathie is correct that the hospital can arrange hospice care. In Thailand, almost all medical care is done in hospitals, there are few, if any, long term care facilities that aren't part of hospitals.

Michael, the Fraser Urbana is shown on the map as being at 55 South Sathorn and the Metropolitan at 27 South Sathorn... Oh, I'm now finding an address for St. Louis at 215 South Sathorn. The Ascott Sathorn is at 187 South Sathorn... Ok, I can now get the map to show the St. Louis Hospital and the two closest hotels it shows are the Ascott Sathorn and the Heritage Hotels Sathorn. Is there a Fraser not shown on the map that is closer?
I was hoping you or Hanuman might chime in with more info.

Kathie - I know where the hospital is but I don't know which hotel or serviced apartment is the best option near there. St. Louis can be access from both Sathorn and a couple of sois so the address can be misleading. I would suggest the OP to contact the hospital and perhaps they might have a special contract or rate with one of the nearby hotel.

I know this might sound morbid but in Thailand I believe if someone died outside a hospital an autopsy is required. If they pass away at a hospital then the body can be release immediately after the doctor signed the death certificate.
