Gloria,

Not really and answer to your question but I'm in Hanoi and we've bought 3 local sim card from Mobiphone for 75,000 VND($4.60) each. Before I switched my home sim card to the Vietnamese one I forwarded all incoming call to the new VN number. Now I'm using the new sims between my wife and daughter and we're using our phones almost like a walkie talkie, calling each other constantly for only a few bucks. All incoming calls to my regular number are coming in and I didn't have to give any body at home my VN number. Perhaps this will be a more economical and practical option.

Hanuman,

(and apologies for hijacking the post)...but how did the Hanoi hotel situation work out for you?

Filmwill,

Great! We got room 221 and 223 in the classic wing with a huge balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. There's some construction, or work, being done near the opera wing but it didn't bother us at all. They've decorated the area by the pool with lots of lights and the hotel does have a festive feeling to it. Everything is great except for the weather!
