Manila/Rangoon Hotels

Looking for a clean/comfortable room with easy access to the Aquino airport in Manila in 50 CDN dollar range. We're overnighting on our way to Boracay from Bangkok in early February. Also, is Malate/Ermita area worth staying a day or two? Thanks!

Also: Rangoon. Flying into Burma for a week and want a guest house in the 30-40 CDN dollar range, if possible. Clean and comfy ... Any advice on Rangoon, anyone? Never been before ...

Hi JohnScott1,

I went to Manila and stayed at the Bayview Hotel, it was a great experience and it is located in one of the safest areas, directly in front of the US Embassy. I paid $55 during peak season. You should be able to book online thru any online discount service for no more than $45.

Hope it can help you... Also, this price includes a private driver to and from the airport but you must advise the hotel of your plans.

Best of luck to you!

if you are staying near the US Embassy, go to the Aristocrat for lunch/dinner.
They are known for their great barbeque.
Shopping- if you have time see if you can get out to Greenhills (take a cab).
The best bargains for South Sea Baby Pearls on the planet- you won't believe the prices.

You could also do Intramuros and Fort Santiago while you are there in Manila- its close by as I recall for where you are staying- a lot of interesting history. Also you could do a day tour over to Corregidor- WWII history.
