Mandalay 2 day itinerary advice

Hi,
I'm starting to get the itinerary together and would appreciate anyones advice for 2 days in Mandalay.
1st day - We arrive at 8.30 am and will probably just explore the town a bit to get our bearings.
2nd day - Get the 9am boat to Mingun from the Mayanchan jetty return at 1pm, go to Mandalay hill and the surrounding area.
3rd day - Get a taxi to Saigang and Inwa, then go from there to Amarapura to catch the sunset at the U Bein bridge.

This is a pretty rough draft of what we're planning but I've only just started doing the research so feel free to change anything that you think we should change.
Thanks

Overall, I think it is a good plan. In town, do visit the Mahamuni Buddha, and note the Angkorian Bronzes in the complex. The Mahamuni Buddha and the bronzes were spoils of war, taken from the Mrauk U area (obviously, the bronzes were taken from Cambodia to Mrauk U, then to Mandalay). We also found the gold leaf workshops to be fascinating.

We loved Sagaing, but I would skip Inwa. The visit to Inwa is very regimented, and there are four and only four stops you can make. Also, the roaods are very rough and the horsecarts the worst I've experienced, and I have a vitreous detachment to remember the trip by. Amarapura is worth the stop.

We opted not to go to Mingun, so maybe shelley can comment.

Thanks Kathie, I'll take out Inwa and have taken note to visit the Mahamuni buddha complex and will definitely be visiting gold leaf shops.

Mingun-Pahtodawgyi purposely not finished-death of the King would happen; Myatheindan/Hsinbyume-white pagoda; of course-Mingun Bell.
Mandalay Hill area-Shwenandaw Kyaung/Golden Palace Monastery-teak, ornate carvings, spectacular roof, lots of gold; Sandamuni Paya with world's largest iron Buddha; Kuthodaw Paya contains text of Tripitaka; Atumashi Monastery. Good for sunset.

Mahamuni Paya-if you visit around 4:30-5 am there is a ceremony of the washing of the Buddha's face which happens daily.

After that go to Sagaing with stops at Amaypura Monastery, U Min Thonze/30 Caves, Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda, and the Kaunghmudaw Pagoda which is dome shaped. Maybe Hsinmyashin Paya/Pagoda of Many Elephants. Swanbonnyashen Pagoda-chicken temple.

Some like Inwa/Ava, some don't. Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, Bagaya Kyaung Monastery-teak, Nanymint-old watch tower.

Amarapura-Mahagandayon Kyuang Monastery; Pahtodawgyi/white temple, women not allowed to climb. U Bein bridge would be nice to see this early morning for scenes of locals crossing the bridge and again at sunset-best to hire a boat and view the bridge/sunset from the boat. Kyautawgyi Paya at farthest end of bridge.

Countryside around Kanddawgyi Lake.

Your plan looks good. Nicely paced. The list above is from my research. In addition to the gold leaf making shops-silk weaving, stone carving, tapestry. We also will have 3 full days to explore Mandalay. Looking forward to reading the suggestions as will help my trip February 2014.
