From a regular, but apparently inattentive, lurker on the Asia board who missed this thread - I'm glad the mentioned surgery went well. Best wishes from Melbourne for continued good results and improvement. Looking forward to more great trip reports in the future.

today is beth's birthday and we were invited to celebrate it with them.

andy took us to jasper white's summer shack, a renown cambridge eatery.

andy was in the best form i have seen him in during the last few months... he really loved his grilled lobster and sucked every morsel out of it... he continues to have vision problems, but he is loving his books via talking computer--i almost said books on tape.... lets hope that this general condition continues and that the sight improves...

they saw the surgeon yesterday and all seemed totally on track.

keep those candles flickering!!

I wonder what suggestions Andy will have for the new initials - MD - behind bob's name.

What a lovely report to read while here in Bangkok. Thank Bob and Happy Birthday Beth, and just so enjoyed hearing that Andy had an appetite and enjoyed his lobster. (and the company of Bob it seems)
I forgot to pack my traveling Thai Lemongrass candle, however, today we went to a wonderful Wat where we were the only Farangs will make a report under my Back in Thailand heading. Andy you were thought of there and with all the ceremony going on, the chanting and offerings, I just thought of you and sent my thoughts and silent prayer for you.

gpanda,
just read this thread today but I'll light a candle in Naples, FL tonight in gratitude for your successful surgery outcome. Keep on healing and hope you make it to Thailand in the spring!

How is GPanda?
Bob and Karen, do you have any news? Did Andy begin more chemo?

I just know he is in many of our thoughts and prayers.

Just knowing how much and how many times he and Beth have enjoyed Thailand, which we are enjoying now, I think of both of them often as fellow travellers ,and am thankful for all the comedic yet informative info that they have imparted to us.

Sending positive thoughts Andy's way.

Sue, when I was in BKK just weeks ago, everytime I walked by the Erewan Shrine (by Hyatt) I stopped and said a silent prayer. Thanks for the reminder...

And Bob, do keeps us posted.

Friday evening- Thailand
Appreciate the update Bob.
There is an amazing peaceful shrine in the middle of a lake here (Phuket Marriott) it is 300 steps from our villa. You can walk out on an elevated platform. I shall be out there in the early morning (Sat) with some orchids and a time of silence and thoughts for Andy.

I talked to Andy yesterday...He had been to the surgeon. Every thing is good as far as he is concerned. There is still hope that some of his sight will return. In the mean time, he is very up beat and enjoying his I pad listening to books on that as reading is hard. Beth is working , so life goes on for the present. Next scan is March 8. I think travel plans depend on what that shows.

You may have read about our visit to the Golden Teak Temple in BKK last week and the three headed elephant where you make a wish. The wish was for you GPanda, and for your return (First Class) to Bangkok.
Thinking of you and sending many prayers your way for a very positive outcome for the next scan.
