Laos

A practical question: we will be in Laos in December. we have been in Nth Vietnam at that time of year and light fleece jackets were ok at night, just wondering if we need a bit more woollies up there at that time of year?

We found northern Lao a bit colder than north Vietnam in Dec, escecially in the early mornings. It did warm up quite rapidly though. Tee shirts in the daytime. Amid fleece was fine.

It depends where. Luang Prabang can be quite chilly in the mornings and you will need a jumper. In Vientiane you can get by with a short sleeved shirt.

Northern Laos (Luang Namtha) in late December can be quite chilly. 6 degrees in the small hours ands chilly until midday. My main problem was that the beds didn't have enough bed-clothes to stay warm. I was travelling by car so had a spare sleeping bag and a lovely warn jacket for those misty mornings.
