kuangsi waterfall and blue lagoon water levels in Jan/Feb

Dear all,

I just wonder if any of you have been to these two locations during January/February. It is the end of dry season I understand, so not that much water? Still worth going? Is swimming still possible or would I be sitting in what looks like a kiddie pool? Thanks!

Kuangsi waterfalls are totally worth going. Plenty of water, good swimming, no problem.

The water is pretty cold in January. No one was swimming at Kuang Si when I was there last year at that time.

Agree with Craig, it's definitely worth going to IMO. Could be a bit cold for swimming but many people did it when I was there last month.

I believe Craig's photos were from February and here's my photos from last December - look in the Luang Prabang gallery.

My daughter went swimming at Kuansi in February and thought it was really nice. I'll pile on with my photos, too. There are several, and you can get a pretty good idea of the main swimming area close to the falls.

And I agree with the others - definitely worth going. We enjoyed it a lot. Easy to arrange a taxi or go with a group.

althom,

Nice one! From your photos it looks like you made it up to the second level of the main fall, something we didn't do so thanks for sharing.

Yes, I made it up to the second level while my daughter swam with a new friend she met on the ride out there (long story - we had hired our own taxi, er, truck, and came across another taxi that had broken down and agreed to take their passengers, and then we had a flat tire about 5 minutes later - it was pretty funny, actually - anyway, she went swimming with one of the women on the broken down taxi).
The view was fabulous - well worth the climb.
