Smeagol- I didn't put anything together for this trip (shocking, I know) but Lori has a guide to local restaurants and other info she puts in each room of the guesthouse. Look for her ongoing thread here about dining in SR because much of the same information is there.
I'll do more on this later, but were were only in PP one night. However, we had two very good meals; one at a place called Frizz (casual Khmer food plus they do cooking classes) and another at an upscale Khmer place called Malis.

I hope Lori will answer, but I know tubes of antibiotic ointment are always appreciated for the schools. Another thing you can do is a shopping trip to a local pharmacy while there to buy medical supplies for the schools.

Smeagol refresh my memory about your dates, my travel dates have changed (again) and I think I might be there when you come....things to bring? check here....
http://theplf.org/wp/help-us/wishlist/

but right now, the things I need the most can be had in Siem Reap, so just bring some cash

hope to see you...

Kris I'm glad you found Malis. I knew you would. But really, was it better than the Num Bahn Chok or the CORN? No, I don't think it was.... x

BTW if you have one of those kind of jobs where there's people around you with thumb drives stashed in their desk drawers, go around and snag all of them. We need a bunch of them for the new computer lab. Thanks!!

New today, part 2 of my Angkor experience; A One Day Visit to Temples of Angkor and Abacus Restaurant.
On this day we went to Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Phrom and the Elephant Terrace. Includes lunch at Khmer Noodle and dinner at a high-end French place called Abacus (excellent).

I hope y'all are still with me here. There's a new post on my blog today about the Pchum Ben holiday, Kompong Khleang fishing village (not the typical one at Tonle Sap) and a couple more restaurants.

Smeagol- Have a FANTASTIC trip!

crosscheck- Thanks, I assume you are talking about my food blog? I'm never happy with the food photos I take in restaurants for the travel blog. The light is never right.

moremiles-Thank you!

Here's another installment in the trip to Cambodia.

Have you ever had one of those travel days where everything seems to go wrong? We did. This is the saga of our boat trip to Battambang. What should have taken 5 hours took 12 and included getting lost, 2 boat breakdowns, and 10 hours wihtout a toilet. Still, it was an adventure to remember!

http://www.wired2theworld.com/2010/1...to-battambang/

While you are there, check out the post prior to this one. It's a "guest post" from another fodorite "mebe" about how she prepared her kids for their first international trip.

Kristina and Lori, I read somewhere that you need thumb drives for your school. I'm just curious -- do you need 1, 2, 10, 50? I've been looking the Bay Area papers for sales here, because I know they're cheap here compared to overseas (although I don't know how much they cost, for example, in Hong Kong or Vietnam, I really only know about Africa). We'll be in Siem Reap in March for just 3 days, but we'd be pleased to bring/send at least a few!

Hi sf yes we are always in need of thumb drives. The smaller ones that are 2 or 4 gb are plenty big enough and we can use any and all you can bring. Give a call when you get to town. 092-848-695 and THANKS!

While I'm still working on my Cambodia report, there's a new post on my blog today; Part 2 of my review of the Kindle e-reader, specifically regarding using it during travel.

http://www.wired2theworld.com/2010/1...review-part-2/

There will be more to come on Cambodia...

I know it's been a while, but I'm back with a new installment of the trip to Cambodia.
This post, called "On the Rails in Battambang, Monks Trump All" is about a day spent in Battambang riding the Bamboo train and seeing the sights.
